How is a nostril retainer (nostril shaping device) used? Is it really necessary?

The nostril retainer is a special product that acts as a mold for the nasal tip to heal symmetrically and beautifully during the nasal healing process.

🤔
What Is It For?

This product does not have the feature to shape the nose on its own. It merely ensures that the shape created by surgery remains symmetrical and forms properly. You may need to use it depending on the procedures applied in your surgery.

📌
Method of Use

My usage recommendation for most of our patients:

  • Sometimes it is inserted during surgery, and sometimes you are asked to start wearing it when the silicone nasal splints are removed.
  • First 2 Months: From the moment of use, continuous use for 22-24 hours a day is recommended.
  • Following 2 Months: It is recommended to use it for only 8-12 hours a day (e.g., only at nights) for about 2 months.

⚠️ Because usage times and details can vary from patient to patient, the process specific to you will be explained during follow-up evaluations.

In addition, the usage times planned for you may be subject to change during checks. For this reason, it is important to continue using them for the periods communicated to you at the check-up appointments.

⚠️ In the following weeks, as the swelling goes down, the retainer may start to feel too large for your nostril. In this case, you should not stop using it or change how you use it on your own; you should either come in for a physical check-up or consult your doctor via WhatsApp to decide if any changes in usage should be made.
